Support for Families
Direct 1:1 occupational therapy sessions focused on early intervention (0-6 years old) within the home environment.
The early developmental stages of a child’s life are critical stages for development and learning. Early intervention for children addresses developmental areas including motor skills (fine and gross); self-care (to develop independence); social and interpersonal relationships; and emotional regulation. It can help children increase their engagement in everyday activities, such as self-help tasks, participation at school, and play. The home based model supports children and their parents/carers through collaboration between the therapist and the family, as well as a child’s educators and other key supports. The therapist will work to educate each on how best to support the child’s development towards greater independence.
Parent coaching/consultation: Providing 1:1 guidance and education to parents
This is an educational service that many parents use to get answers to questions they may have about development or seeking ideas for tips/tools/strategies to support their children in fostering greater independence. Further support can be provided to review prior assessments, to seek referrals that may be beneficial to their child, and/or to brainstorm resources that may be available.
Infant massage classes
“Infant massage is not a fad, it is an ancient art that connects you deeply with the person who is your baby, and helps you to understand your baby’s particular nonverbal language and respond with love and respectful listening. It empowers you as a parent, for it gives you the means by which you become an expert on your own child.” ~ IAIM Founder, Vimala McClure
Training sessions can be offered either privately in a client’s home or in small group sessions in a classroom setting with other parents and babies. The primary benefit of infant massage is the connection and bonding that takes place between parent and child with research supporting many other physiological benefits such as relaxation, improved digestion and improved sleep quality. Inquire or sign up to learn about the MANY benefits of infant massage.
